About me

Hi

My name is Lisa. I'm old enough to qualify for senior's discounts in some shops and hotels.

I live with my husband and son and cat in a small house in Toronto, Ontario.  I'm a retired school teacher. I worked at a public high school in Toronto, where I taught history, with a particular emphasis on Genocide and Crimes against Humanity. I am involved with social justice issues in my life outside school.

I am also a vegan, and I have decided to write this blog to share my views and ideas and great recipes with you! I have been a vegetarian since 1997, and a vegan since 2009.   I eat only plant-based foods, and I don't wear wool or leather or feathers or silk or any other products that come from animals.  I do this to model to people that it isn't necessary to eat meat to live a great life.   I am looking for some justice for animals, which are treated abysmally by the food industry.  I just cannot be part of that cruelty.

I acknowledge that I am not perfect, but I never knowingly use products that come from animals.  I do know that animal products can be lurking in the most innocuous of places.   When I find these situations, I call out the makers of these products.
